ClearNews is a personal news aggregator. Your privacy matters — here's exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your data.

What We Don't Do

• We do not collect, store, or share any personal information.
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
• We do not sell or share data with third parties.
• We do not require an account to use the app.

Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores a small amount of data locally on your device:

• App settings — Your theme preference (light/dark/system) and reader font size are saved using iOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
• Cached content — Article data and images are cached by iOS (URLCache) to improve performance. This cache is managed by the operating system and can be cleared in iOS Settings.

Network Requests

The app connects to our backend server (getclearnews.com) to fetch news articles and article content for the reader view. These requests include:

• The category or search query you're viewing
• The URL of an article when you open it in reader view

No personal identifiers, device IDs, or location data are sent with these requests. We do not log IP addresses for tracking purposes.

Third-Party Content

Articles displayed in the app are sourced from publicly available RSS feeds and financial news APIs. When you tap "Original" to view an article on its source website, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Children's Privacy

ClearNews is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the revised version here with a new "Last updated" date.
